SHAVUOT (PENTECOSTE): CELEBRATING THE GIFT OF THE WORD AND THE HOLY SPIRIT
Forty-nine days (7 weeks x 7 days) after having hurriedly left Egypt with the celebration of the first Passover, the people of Israel met the Eternal God at Mount Horeb at Sinai for the reception of the Torah, the 5 first book of Bible, the Word of God, the pattern of life and conduct that would shape the nation of Israel forever. So began Israel.
Forty-nine days after celebrating the Passover with His disciples, the Messiah Jesus fulfilled His promise by sending and pouring His Spirit on the 120 faithful followers who gathered in Jerusalem. Thus began the Church.
It is celebrated this Sunday this double event that gave us life and gave us life. The gift of the Word and the gift of the Holy Spirit of God.
We must celebrate, but still live intensely this new reality, being daily blessed and guided by the instruction and revelation of His Word, and filled in our interior with nothing less than the presence of the Spirit of God Himself, the One who came to dwell forever in our hearts!
Chag Shavuot Sameach! Happy Pentecost!
Shalom, Israel!
