JESUS WAS BORN -- THE SON OF MAN - THE SON OF GOD

JESUS -- WHAT DOES HE MEAN TO YOU?

His birth was contrary to the Laws of Life.

His death was contrary to the Laws of Death.

He had no cornfields or fisheries, but He could spread a table for five thousand and have bread and fish to spare.

He walked on no beautiful carpets or velvet rugs, but He walked on the waters of the Sea of Galilee and they supported Him.

When He died few men mourned. But a black crepe was hung over the sun.

Though men trembled not for their sins, the earth beneath them shook under the load.

All nature honored Him. Sinners alone rejected Him. Corruption could not get hold of His body. The soil that had been reddened with His blood could not claim His body.

Three years He preached His gospel. He wrote no book, had no monetary backing. But after nineteen hundred years He is the one central character of human history, the pivot around which the events of the ages revolve and the only Regenerator of the Human Race.

Was it merely the Son of Joseph and Mary who crossed the world's horizon nineteen hundred years ago? Was it merely human blood that was shed on Calvary's Hill for the redemption of Sinners? What thinking man can keep from exclaiming—"My Lord and My God"?

JESUS, THE SON OF MAN

Jesus Christ was obligated to have a dual nature so He could save us from our sin.

He had to be deity in order to have the ability to save.

He had to be a man, so humanity could understand His salvation

As the Son of Man, Jesus Christ identified Himself with mankind; in temptations, heart-aches, disappointments, and in pains.

  • The gospel of Matthew presents Christ as the King of all.
  • Mark presented Him as the Servant of God.
  • Luke presented Him as the Son of Man.
  • He is presented by John as the son of God.
  • The geology of Christ in the book of Matthew traces His lineage from Davit to Joseph (his foster father).
  • Luke traced Jesus’ linage from Adam to Mary in order to establish His humanity.
  • John traced Christ’s heritage to God the Father, thereby establishing His deity.

ADAM: A CONTRAST TO THE SON OF MAN

Romans 5:17-19

17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!

18 Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people.

For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

THE BIRTH AND CHILDHOOD OF THE SON OF MAN

Luke 2

1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
21 On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.
Jesus Presented in the Temple
22 When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord”), 24 and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: “a pair of doves or two young pigeons.”
25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him. 26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. 27 Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, 28 Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:
29 “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised,
you may now dismiss your servant in peace.
30 For my eyes have seen your salvation,
31 which you have prepared in the sight of all nations:
32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and the glory of your people Israel.”
33 The child’s father and mother marveled at what was said about him. 34 Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: “This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, 35 so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too.”
36 There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, 37 and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. 38 Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.
39 When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth. 40 And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.
The Boy Jesus at the Temple
41 Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover. 42 When he was twelve years old, they went up to the festival, according to the custom. 43 After the festival was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. 44 Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends. 45 When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him. 46 After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”
49 “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” 50 But they did not understand what he was saying to them.
51 Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

THE SON OF MAN HAD COMPASSION FOR HUMANITY

  • Luke 8: 2 He had compassion for Mary Magdalene
  • John 4: 9 He felt compassion for the Samaritans
  • Luke 17: 12-14 He had compassion for lepers
  • Luke 19: 2 He showed compassion to Zacchaeus
  • Luke 23: 43 He had compassion for the their on the cross
  • Luke 7: 13-14 Luke 9: 47-48 He had special compassion for women and children

Luke 19:1-10
Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”
8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Jesus the first-born among many (Romans 8: 29) said, “you must be born of the Spirit. (John 3:7)
For your Father in heaven is sprit and truth. (John 4:23)
There is joy in the presence of angels over each new birth (Luke 15:10)

Then you will come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the assembly and the church of the first-born who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of righteous men made perfect, and to Jesus our mediator. Gardening Secrets

The Five Secrets to Achieving Happiness In Your Garden

By Carol

Introduction

I have discovered the five secrets to achieving happiness in your garden.

One day last spring, I found a key and used it to unlock the door to a long-ago abandoned garden shed. As I opened the door, a ray of sunlight fell upon an old potting bench, and on that bench was a small, non-descript book bound in green leather with gold writing. I picked up the book, blew the dust and potting soil off the cover, and gave it a gentle swipe with my hand to reveal the title, “The Five Secrets to Achieving Happiness in Your Garden”. My hands shook as I slowly opened the book and began to read…

GOD´S GIFT: Stevia, a natural sweetener

By Ruth Ferraz

When I was a teenager I learned that refined sugar is bad for health. Since then I have used and searched for more natural alternatives: brown sugar and honey, but I discovered that the brown is often masked with melasso. Artificial sweeteners although containing a lot of chemicals, they are much more dangerous to health than white sugar. [...]

You are "Jesus's sheep" or "goat"?

 By Ruth Ferraz

We have seen in these last days of earth's history, what Jesus warned: that love will grow cold in almost "end of time":

"Then many false prophets will appear and fool many people.  Such will be the spread of evil that many people's love will grow cold.  But whoever holds out to the end will be saved. "(Matthew 24.11-13).

We found that many who call themselves "Christians" or "believers" and even attend church, do not have a true and deep love for God, the Holy Scriptures and neighbor. Remember that even atheists can be solidary and help. There are many emotional cults where one is singing great music "gooospeel", "falling in spirit," praying to get rich, etc, but the deep study of the Bible, which calls for a reasonable service to put into practice does not occur. Do not worry about helping and loving others! So people do not bear fruit and will thus be cut and thrown out. It's even worse ...  looking for someone who truly follow the Word, dress decently and live a sanctified life is branded as fundamentalist!  The other day a congressman, I will not even mention the name, told in National Congress in full, "these people fundamentalists who follow the Bible literally!" So many cower and shy about saying who believe in Jesus and in the Bible [...]

Abortions in Silence: As some family planning methods provoke micro-abortions

Book summary Julio Severo: Abortions in Silence, by permission of the author, by Ruth Ferraz

As some family planning drugs can provoke micro-abortions:
We sin against God by ignorance, not knowing the facts involved with sin that we might be committing unknowingly. "An example of the latter type of situation would be a Christian using an intrauterine device and chemicals, knowing that without it, they endanger the life of a baby very early in pregnancy."  (Severo, p. 3)

 When does human life begin?

In the U.S., abortion is legal in the 9 months of pregnancy and can be done until a few hours before delivery! A million babies are aborted each year in the U.S.  [...]

Home: The Woman´s Place

 By Charity Darlene Gardner

The place of the woman is a hotly debated issue. It is also an important issue, because everybody on earth is affected by the women and the part these women play in their lives. Henri F. Amiel said, "...Woman is the salvation or destruction of the family. She carries its destinies in the folds of her mantle."1 The woman not only holds the fate of the family in her hand, but history also rests in her arms. The babies born to mothers all over the world today will one day make history.2 So, we see the need for each of us to decide whether the place of the woman is at home, or if it is of no importance if she decides to leave the home. I think it will be well worth our while to remember, while we look at this concern, that "Where the heart is willing it will find a thousand ways, but where it is unwilling it will find a thousand excuses."3 [...]

Whom do you trust: God or Man

by Don Hank
If we were to be honest with ourselves for just a brief moment, we would admit that Western society is deeply sinful and even worships sin, celebrating with carnivals and gay parades, and teaching young children how to perform sex acts in schools. Romans 1:25 accurately describes the Western world (Paul uses homosexuals as an example but this issue ranges far wider than that):
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
And the end of that discourse on sinners describes the outcome.
...men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
A graphic depiction of some of that recompense for this particular group of sinners can be found here.
which I referenced in my commentary "The recompense of their error":

The Heart of the Man

Our heart is the temple of God or the workshop of Satan?

O nosso coração é o templo de Deus ou a oficina de Satanás? Our heart is the temple of God or the workshop of Satan?

"Se dissermos que temos comunhão com Ele, e andarmos em trevas, mentimos, e não praticamos a verdade" (1 João 1:6 ) "If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth" (1 John 1:6)

Lemos a transcrição do livro: "O Coração do Homem", de autor desconhecido e decidi fazer um resumo. We read the transcript of the book: "The Heart of Man", author unknown and decided to do a summary. O Senhor tem me mostrando como ter um "coração vitorioso" é imprescindível para viver plenamente. Que todos possam ser abençoados também! The Lord is showing me as having a "winning hearts" is essential to living fully. May all be blessed too!

By his wounds we are healed!

Isaiah 53

1 The people reply:

Who would have believed what we now report?
Who could have seen the Lord's hand in this?
2 It was the will of the Lord that his servant
grow like a plant taking root in dry ground.
He had no dignity or beauty
to make us take notice of him.
There was nothing attractive about him,
nothing that would draw us to him.
3 We despised him and rejected him;
he endured suffering and pain.
No one would even look at him—
we ignored him as if he were nothing.

Prime Minister, Julia Gillard - Australia

WOW!   She Did It Again!!!

Australia says NO -- SecondTime she has done this!

She sure isn't backing down on her hard   line stance and one has to appreciate her belief in the rights of her   native countrymen. A breath of fresh air to see someone   lead.

Australian Prime Minister does it again!! The whole   world needs a leader like this!

Prime Minister, Julia   Gillard - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia   Law, were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government   targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror   attacks.

Separately, Gillard angered some Australian   Muslims on Wednesday by saying she supported spy agencies monitoring the   nation's mosques.
Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT... Take   It Or Leave It.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are   offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on   Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of   Australians.'

'This culture has been developed over two   centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women   who have sought freedom.' We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese,   Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language; therefore, if   you wish to become part of our society, learn the   language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not   some Christian, right-wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian   men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why; all we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment  with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR   LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But   once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our   Pledge, Our Christian Beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you   take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO   LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't   force you to come here.
You asked to be here...so accept the country YOU   accepted.'

NOTE: IF we circulate this amongst   ourselves, in Canada & the USA , WE
will find the courage to start   speaking and voicing the same truths.

If you agree please   SEND THIS ON and ON, to as many people as you   know!!

Love your enemies!

 By Ruth Ferraz

43 "You have heard that it was said,
Love your friends, hate your enemies.44 But now I tell you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,45 so that you may become the children of your Father in heaven. For he makes his sun to shine on bad and good people alike, and gives rain to those who do good and to those who do evil.46 Why should God reward you if you love only the people who love you? Even the tax collectors do that!47 And if you speak only to your friends, have you done anything out of the ordinary? Even the pagans do that!48 You must be perfect—just as your Father in heaven is perfect."(Matt. 5.42-48)

What does "12 Tribes of Israel?

By Andre Sanchez - Translated by Ruth Ferraz

Throughout the Bible we can see much talk about the 12 tribes of Israel.  But who are these tribes? Where do they come from? What they represent in the Bible?

The origin of the 12 tribes of Israel is described in Genesis 29, 30 and 35. 16-22. 16-22. Here we describe the births of 12 children of Jacob, who also bore the name of Israel. These were twelve children: Ruben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asser, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph and Benjamin.
But these 12 names does not correspond exactly to the 12 tribes of Israel. [...]

The New School Prayer

Now I sit me down in school,
Where praying is against the rule.
For this great nation under God,
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow,
Becomes a federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense, it's the freedom scene.

The law is specific, the law is precise,
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall,
Might offend someone with no faith at all.

In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the State.
We're allowed to cuss & dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues & cheeks.
They've outlawed guns; but FIRST the Bible,
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the unwed daddy, our Senior King.

It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms, & birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires & totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No Word of God must reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.

So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot, my soul please take.
